Welcome to Alan Parker's home page

I am 56 and  was retired after having a business making soccer shirts which I sold in 1996.

I was originally introduced to computers by my son Stephen who has a software house called Parker Technologies Ltd. of which I am also a director. They specialise in  time and attendance control and real-time shop floor data capture.  parker1.gif (11102 bytes)

I have now become an Internet Service Provider with a company trading as Apanet Ltd

Our aim is to host purely B2B websites, offer dial up facilities and e-mail management.

We have  a 256k Frame Relay. running NT4 server with IIS4 on Pentium III, 400mz dual processor servers with 256 mg Ram and the connections are extremely quick.

Over the last 18 months I have acquired a majority interest in a web design company called Web Platforms Ltd and most exciting of all I have formed, along with Andy Nicholson , an angling web site called www.anglingnews.net

This site provides reports on all the major rivers in the UK and Ireland, where to fish, where to stay etc. It is our intention to make this site the biggest angling website in the world. It is a very ambitious project and is the brainchild of Andy Nicholson, the well known angling writer and broadcaster.

The site has taken 12 months to write so far and is not yet finished, the clever bits are the way reporters can add/modify river reports using a web based admin page. We will have well over 400 rivers being reported on at least  a weekly basis by the time it is finished.

I have added loads of pictures on my site which I have taken with an Olympus C1400L and a Nikon Coolpix 950 digital camera, and I would appreciate your comments
